Welcome to my website. I hope you will enjoy viewing my
paintings. The inspiration for my work,
especially landscapes, comes directly from nature and within an hour or so
drive from my home; although in my travels across this country and others,
scenes and objects that capture my imagination always appear and I incorporate
them into my work. The most important
element for me to capture is light.
Mood is often established by the time of day, generally late day or
early morning light is the most inspiring.
When a scene catches my eye I spend time observing how the subject
changes with the changing light. Small
color studies, pencil sketches and photographs are made to gather information
for the planning of a larger studio piece.
The small color study is often a finished painting in itself and goes
into my plein air collection. The
process of creating a painting is the same for still life or figurative
work. I am inspired by and learn from
painting masters of the past as well as contemporary painters.
A
large part of the work displayed has been sold, and is featured only with the
hope that it will encourage you to return and visit as new work is posted. Some of these paintings are available as giclee prints. I do not inventory
prints but can order them to your size requirements and on fine archival
watercolor papers or canvas. Please
